Complete pre-license education

After you complete your New Jersey insurance pre-license course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion, which does not expire.

Take the state licensing exam

The next step is to take and pass the New Jersey insurance license exam. Note that you are to take one exam for each line of insurance.

How to renew your New Jersey insurance license

In the state of New Jersey, insurance licenses expire every two years. Therefore, you should renew your insurance license to keep it active.

New Jersey requires insurance agents to complete 24 credits of continuing education, which will include three hours of approved ethics. If you fail to complete the requirement on continuing education, you will not be able to renew, and therefore use your license.
